I've just finished the work on the podcatcher media provider for elisa and commited it to the svn. Now it is working again, and as you can see, you can also browse Image now:
okay. what did I just see?
In fact it should simply do something similar like the most podcast programms do, what means, that we feed it with an rss feed (
) and it finds the media data in it. This kind of publishing is very popular for the most blogs, podcasts and video blogs. Currently this plugin does not support reading this entries, but it is able to find the Video or Audio Data published throught feed and can integrate them into elisa. So you can listen to your favorite podcast or watch some videoblogs (like rocketboom for example). With this latest update this plugin is also able to find any images in the feed and can display them. So you can also use it, to read your favorite daily publishing comic-website.
And how to set it up?
It is quiet simple. With the latest update to the svn, I could also remove the dependency of the feedparser, so you simply has to add the 'base:podcatcher_media' to your media-providers in the elisa config file and you can start by adding uris to the locations-list of the audio, video and image activity. The only thing you need is the uri for a rss-feed. Like this one from rocketboom "http://www.rocketboom.com/vlog/quicktime_daily_enclosures.xml". Then you change the 'http' to 'rss' to let the podcatcher-plugin react on it and add this uri to the locations-list 'rss://www.rocketboom.com/vlog/quicktime_daily_enclosures.xml'. Cool, huu?
Start elisa and you can browse the data.
And which one can I see in this Video?
There you can see the podcast of Brennpunktgeschichten, the video blogs DenkDran and RocketBoom and the Comics of RealLifeComics.
